CONES DE POLYNESIE, POLYNESIAN CONIDAE
Author : David Touitou & Michel Balleton

Conus adamsonii Broderip,1836

Rareté : Très rare
Habitat : Mal connu.
Taille moyenne : 35-40 mm
Rarity: Very rare
Habitat : Not really known. It was found in lagoons and out of the reef. It seems that its main habitat is on the outer slope of main reefs. In Rurutu many specimens were collected fresh dead after a huge storm on the beaches.
Discussion : The specimens from Marquesas Islands are darker and bigger than the ones from other localities. It is a species that every cone shell collector would like to have in collection.
This species is not endemic to Polynesia like it sometime is written in books. The Cooks Islands are also a good place to hunt for this species.
Average size : 35-40 mm

Vanuatu 36.4mm & Polynésie 39.7mm
