Conus legatus Lamarck, 1810

Rareté : Assez Rare
Habitat : Espèce vivant à l'extérieur du récif barrière principalement dans la zone des 15-25m. Caché sous de petits débris coralliens autour des zones sablo-détritiques. Il peut néanmoins se retrouver dans le lagon et les passes.
Discussion : Très belle espèce d'assez petite taille dont la couleur perd rapidement en intensité pour finir rose pâle. Les gros spécimens sont rares. En Polynésie cette espèce dépasse rarement 35mm contrairement aux spécimens de l'océan indien pouvant atteindre 50 à 60mm.
Taille moyenne : 20-35 mm
Rarity : Moderately Rare
Habitat : This species usually live outside the reef in the 15-25 meters zone, and hides under small coral fragments during daytime. It may be found sometimes in the lagoon or in the pass though.
Discussion : This very nice small species has a bright pink color while freshly collected and fades rapidly to a light pink color.
In Polynesia, the species is small compared to Indian Ocean specimens which may reach 50-60mm there.
Average size : 20-35 mm
